The Garden Scholarship in Surgical Sciences
The University of Edinburgh will offer one Masters scholarship for the MSc in Surgical Sciences distance learning Masters programme offered by the University.
The scholarship will have a total value of £1,000, which will be deducted from the annual tuition fee for the part-time programme of study. Successful candidates who receive the award in their second year of study can re-apply for a scholarship their third year of study.
The scholarship will be awarded to a second or third year student enrolled on the MSc in Surgical Sciences distance learning programme at the University of Edinburgh. Applicants must be both nationals of and resident in the following countries:
- Burkina Faso
- Cape Verde
- Central African Republic
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Equatorial Guinea
- Lao People's Democratic Republic
- São Tomé and Principe
- Sierra Leone
- Solomon Islands
- South Sudan
- United Republic of Tanzania
The countries listed above are defined as least developed nations by the United Nations Composition of macro geographical (continental) regions, geographical sub-regions, and selected economic and other groupings.
The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit and evidence of a commitment to a career in surgery. Candidates must have performed satisfactorily in the academic year of the MSc in Surgical Sciences prior to application for an award.
Applications for this scholarship are no longer being accepted for 2017-18 as the deadline of 3rd September 2017 has now passed.
A Selection Committee (comprising the Programme Director and Year Directors for the MSc in Surgical Sciences) will meet in September 2017 to select the scholarship holder. Decision and notification will be made by the end of September 2017.
