University of Edinburgh Business School Doctoral Scholarship

A number of fully-funded scholarships are available for any area of study within the Business School doctoral programme.

Awards

We are offering several scholarships for PhD study within the Business School. The scholarships will cover full tuition fees (UK or Overseas level) with £17,668 annual stipend for up to 4 years (pro-rata for part-time students).

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to new applicants who have applied for admission to one of the Business School PhD programmes (PhD Accounting, PhD Finance, PhD Financial Technology, PhD Management) starting in September 2023. Applicants must hold a conditional or unconditional offer to be considered for the scholarship and must meet the academic entry requirements for the PhD programme applied to. This typically requires a minimum qualification of a Masters with an overall mark of 65% or more and a distinction level dissertation.

We strongly encourage and are attentive to applications from the following candidates, including:

  • Under our widening participation policy, we welcome applications from those with a low income background, who will be the first in their family to go to university, or who have been in care.
  • Minority ethnic group
  • LGBT+ applicants
  • Disabled applicants

Criteria

Your proposed research topic must fall within one of our six broad research areas. Preference will be given to applicants whose research aligns with one of the key research themes of the School. Applying

Applications for the 2023-2024 academic session are no longer being accepted for this scholarship as the 28th February deadline has now passed.

Notification

Candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application in April 2023. Please be aware that we also hold a reserve list. In the event that a successful candidate later declines their award, the award will be offered to the top candidate on the reserve list. Candidates will be notified if they are listed as a reserve candidate.
