University’s Review of Support for Disabled Students and Recommendations Now Published

The Disability Review report and recommendations have now been published, following the review panel’s engagement with disabled students and staff, and input from the Student Disability Service, academic staff, Coordinators of Adjustments and others.

The review panel was convened by Professor Jane Norman, the Vice principal for People and Culture and focussed on 2 main areas:

  • The implementation of adjustments for disabled students
  • Accessibility of the Estate.

Some key recommendations include ensuring a mutual understanding that the support proposed for disabled students by the Student Disability Service is mandatory and that each Head of School must nominate a senior designated single point of contact for each disabled student.

Estates must develop Access Guides for buildings and involve disabled students in reviews of accessibility and during the design stage of new builds.
