Our services

We offer self-help and online resources, one-to-one therapy, plus as a series of workshops. We can also refer you on to mentoring and physical health support within the University.

One-to-one therapy (Counselling)

The Student Counselling Service is offering services by video (via Microsoft Teams), telephone, email and in person. If you would like to speak to a counsellor please make sure you have noted your contact number before submitting the form.

Video appointments on Microsoft Teams

We now offer video appointments via Microsoft Teams. This is the option we will offer when we contact you with an appointment time. We have set out a list of FAQs below to help with any queries you may have.

Email Counselling

Email counselling involves the client typing their feelings, problems or concerns and sending them by email. The specially trained Email Counsellor reads and responds with a therapeutic reply in a given period of time. This consists of a series of exchanges however is not done ‘live’ like a chat.

Skills for Life and Learning

We run presentation workshops on a variety of topics. These are being held either online or in-person for 2021-22 and are open to all students. You can book a place on a workshop on MyEd.

Health and exercise

Our Support for Physical Activity programme can help support mental and emotional health and wellbeing through physical exercise.

Stress Control

NHS Lothian staff will deliver a series of six free classes, delivered in a lecture format so you will not be asked to speak in front of a group. You will learn proven techniques to manage stress and improve sleep.
