Family members of EU/EEA/Swiss students

If your family members are EEA/Swiss nationals then they will be able to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme in the same way as you.

Eligibility for the EU Settlement Scheme is based on nationality and on residence in the UK, rather than on student status.

EU/EEA/Swiss nationals

If your family members are EU/EEA/Swiss nationals then they will be able to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme in the same way as you.  Eligibility for the EU Settlement Scheme is based on nationality and on residence in the UK, rather than on student status.

Apply for the EU Settlement Scheme

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals

If your family members are not EEA or Swiss nationals then they can apply to join or accompany you to the UK if they are your

  • Spouse or civil partner
  • Unmarried partner, if you have lived together for at least 2 years
  • Child who is either under 21, or who is older and is dependant on you or on your spouse or civil partner
  • Parent or grandparent who is dependant on you or your spouse or civil partner

EU Family Permit for family members outside the UK

If you have already been granted pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme then your family member will need to apply for an EU Settlement Scheme family permit to come to the UK.

EUSS Family Permit

If you have not yet applied for the EU Settlement Scheme then your family member will need to apply for an EEA Family Permit to come to the UK.

EEA Family Permit

Once your family member has arrived in the UK they can apply for the EU Settlement Scheme.  They must do this within 6 months of arrival, and prior to 30 June 2021.
