Winter 2020 graduations

We regret that graduation ceremonies in winter 2020 will not be running due to Covid-19.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic, we regret that all November in-person graduation ceremonies will be cancelled. Our priority is the health and wellbeing of our students and your guests. While we recognise that this is very disappointing news, it would not be feasible to host graduations at McEwan Hall which will have a reduced capacity from 1800 to 138 people, as a result of social distancing.

Future ceremonies

We want to ensure you have the opportunity to celebrate your achievements with your cohort and your parents and supporters. Please be assured that you will be able to attend an in-person ceremony within the McEwan Hall as soon as it is safe to resume.

Ceremonies will resume when we are able to have a minimum of 500 people within the Hall and current plans are to hold a series of additional weeks throughout the year in 2021, but this is dependent on Scottish Government guidance.

Virtual celebrations and photo opportunities

A virtual celebration will be offered again in early December.

Along with our virtual offer, for those of you currently in Edinburgh who may not be able to return for a future ceremony, we will be offering a gowned photo opportunity at the McEwan Hall. We will provide further details about this with you soon.

Awarding of degrees

Degrees will be conferred by the relevant Board of Examiners and the result communicated to you via MyEd.  Once your award has been confirmed, you can immediately access your academic statement, which will evidence your degree has been awarded, in MyEd at MyEd --> Accounts --> My Student Record --> Documents.

Degree certificates

Please ensure your name and contact details are correct by Sunday 15 November.

Certificates will be issued to those who successfully complete their award by post to your home address by the end of December. Please check your home address, phone number and email address in MyEd to ensure they are correct so that your degree certificate reaches you. If you live outside of the UK, your home address should be written in English to ensure we are able to post it to you.

The name that will appear on your degree certificate is your full name as it appears on your student record. The name on your degree certificate should match your passport or birth certificate. If the name on your record is not correct, please let us know what changes are needed via this online form.
