Events taking place to mark LGBT+ History Month
Edinburgh University Students’ Association and University’s Staff Pride Network are running a series of events during February to mark LGBT+ History Month.
LGBT+ History Month is a chance to celebrate, reflect on and learn about LGBT+ community milestones and influential figures, past and present.
This year’s theme is ‘Behind the lens’, with several events celebrating LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film. Other highlights include creative workshops, a panel session on barriers to education and a guest lecture from Professor Zoë Playdon of the University of London.
University schools and departments are also organising a range of events open to both students and staff. The Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s LGBTQ+ Liberation Officer, Jaime Prada, has programmed a range of student creative workshops ending with the Celebrating Queer Joy art exhibition at Potterrow on 27 and 28 February, to which both students and staff are invited to submit artwork. You can find out more on the exhibition webpage.
You can find out more and view the calendar of events on the Staff Pride Network’s blog or the Edinburgh University Students’ Association website. Staff Pride Network members can access details via the members’ SharePoint site.
