Enhancing the Student Experience

Support for international students

The International Office and English Language Teaching Centre are developing their services to support the needs of international students.

The International Office

Introduced a blog, Twitter feed and direct email instructions to guide students through the visa application process.

Providing visa and immigration support for students entering Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur and Tier 2 Skilled Worker following the conclusion of their studies, in partnership with the Careers Service.

Continued development of our hospitality scheme, which links students with local people, is now sector leading and was highlighted in a recent Universities Scotland publication called “Richer for it…”

Collaboration with the EUSA Advice Place means we now have a regular presence at Kings Buildings to provide direct student support on this campus.

Introduction of fortnightly Blackboard Collaborate sessions for prospective international students.

Expansion of our Buddy scheme can now partner all incoming Exchange and Study Abroad students with an Edinburgh student.

Streamlining the application timeline for both Erasmus (EU) and International (Outside EU) Exchanges has given students a greater level of choice and enabled them to make informed decisions about their year abroad.
