Enhancing recruitment and admissions
Student Recruitment and Admissions offers information, advice and support to enquirers, applicants and students from the UK and the EU and supports the University in its strategic objectives on student recruitment, admissions and widening participation.
Online, interactive pre-entry information sessions using Collaborate offer an alternative way for potential students to interact with the University.
Regular online sessions for prospective postgraduate students are promoted and coordinated. These sessions involve a range of support services and provide advice and guidance on topics including accommodation, careers, visas, fee payment, funding, study skills and admissions.
Introducing Study America: 10 first-year undergraduates, who all entered the University via one of its Widening Participation programmes, spent two weeks in April 2013 on a study abroad experience at the University of Virginia (UVa). We look forward to welcoming UVa students for a return visit this session.
The pilot programme was organised in collaboration with Student Recruitment and Admissions, the International Office and the Edinburgh University Students' Association.
New widening participation outreach includes:
- CPD sessions for teachers on subject choice, UCAS personal statements and references
- expansion of the early years initiative working in primary school and early secondary in low progression communities
- Sutton Trust Summer School for S5/year 12 WP students from across the UK.
