International Call Up for Edinburgh Students on Scotland Women Tour

Scottish Rugby announce the Women’s squad for their South Africa tour featuring a number of students and alumni

The Scotland Women’s squad will travel to South Africa on 27 September for their first tour under Head Coach Philip Doyle, which will include two test matches against South Africa Women. The squad announcement features a number of Edinburgh students and alumni, including captain, Helen Nelson, who graduated in 2016.

Four current Edinburgh University students have been selected for the representative squad. Two of these students, Sarah Denholm and Anne Young, will take this opportunity to win their first cap playing XVs, while Lisa Thomson and Panashe Muzambe continue to make their mark on the pitch.

Head of Performance Sport and Head of Performance Rugby (Women), Claire Cruikshank, had this to say:

We are delighted to have so many of our players selected to represent Scotland on the tour to South Africa. This shows the strength of the women's rugby programme here at Edinburgh and the growth of women's rugby in Scotland. It is exciting have a strong Edinburgh contingent, students and alumni, on the team and we are very proud of their continued success in their sporting careers.
