Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) and SPECTRUM submit joint representation to to HM Treasury’s Comprehensive Spending Review 2020

Our representation sets out the role that tobacco control can play in supporting delivery of the following priorities of the Comprehensive Spending Review:

  • strengthening the UK’s economic recovery from COVID-19
  • levelling up economic opportunity across all nations and regions of the country by investing in infrastructure, innovation and people
  • improving outcomes in public services
  • strengthening the UK’s place in the world
  • improving the management and delivery of our commitments

The representation is organised around three key areas: strengthening the UK’s tax base, sustainable long-term funding for enhanced public health, and maintaining the UK’s position as a global leader in tobacco control.
