Your personal statement did not demonstrate an understanding of your chosen degree programme

Many of our programmes, particularly those in the School of Geosciences, require a strong personal statement

We receive many applications from very well qualified applicants and as part of the admissions process we consider each application fully. One of the key factors in the selection process is a strong personal statement. This should clearly demonstrate an understanding of the nature of the programme, show a good understanding of the programme’s aims and objectives and outline how the programme will advance the applicant’s specific career ambitions.

Unfortunately, as the personal statement you submitted did not demonstrate this level of understanding we are unable to consider your application further. Please note that it is not normally possible to consider a revised personal statement.

In order to write a suitable personal statement you should ensure that you are familiar with all of the information provided on the programme and its aims as outlined in the degree finder.

MSc Food Security applicants

Please note this is NOT an MSc in Food Safety or Food Science. Personal statements focused on either of these areas, rather than Food Security, are considered unsuitable. Further information on our MSc Food Security, including programme structure and content can be found in the degree finder.
