Social Responsibility and Sustainability Workshop for Staff and Students

This session will bring together staff and students from across the College of Science and Engineering who have an interest in Social Responsibility and Sustainability (SRS) issues.

Hosted by Dr Bruce Nelson, College Registrar, and Michelle Brown, Head of SRS Programmes, this afternoon session will invite attendees to consider the contribution of science and engineering disciplines in response to local and global sustainability challenges. The University’s long term strategic approach to SRS issues will be discussed. Reflections from five years of the Department for SRS will also be shared.

Through a ‘World Café’ style workshop, facilitators will encourage attendees to reflect on current opportunities for staff and students around 7 key SRS themes. Attendees will identify local priorities for supporting further SRS programmes in the College of Science and Engineering.

All staff and students from the College of Science and Engineering are welcome to attend.

The World Cafe will provide staff and students with the opportunity to discuss several key SRS themes. This will include Energy, Sustainable Travel, Circular Economy, Fairness in Trade and Sustainable Procurement, Community Engagement, Student Experience and Co-Curricular Learning, Employee Volunteering.
