Principal's medal at graduation ceremony

Roslin team received a Principal's medal for their work in supporting gender equality.

Roslin's Professor Helen Sang, Dr Vicky MacRae and Catherine Eastwood have been jointly awarded the Principal's Medal for Exceptional Service for their great work in leading The Roslin Institute's Athena SWAN related activities and advancing support of gender equality.

We are very proud to receive the Principal's medal and we accept it on behalf of the many people who have contributed to our work towards gender equality.

Our success has shown us that individuals cannot achieve change, that change is brought about by engagement of many people in an organisation, working to understand the issues that, in this case, have held back careers of women in science, then committing to and investing in making changes.

The changes we are making in the University go much further than gender equality, as changes we make support equality in career opportunities where race, sexual orientation, disabilities do not hold people back (or to put it another way) where only an individual's skills and abilities are evaluated."
