Translational research

A workshop to learn what translating research into practice is and its benefits.

On 3 August, a virtual drop-in session aimed to clarify what translational research is and how our researchers can engage and benefit from translational activities.

Presented by Business Development Executive Siân Ringrose, and run by the Roslin Business Development team and wider Edinburgh Innovations, the session was an opportunity for early career researchers and postdocs to have their questions answered with regards to engaging with companies to translate their research.

The session covered the meaning of translational research – from fundamental science to commercial application, its benefits and dis-benefits, how researchers can engage with it, the support available at the Institute and wider University of Edinburgh, and an open Q&A session.
