Maria Contreras Garcia

PhD student in the Grey lab

Maria has been a PhD student in the Grey lab since 2016, carrying out most of her research at the Moredun Research Institute. Her PhD project focuses on understanding the role of microRNAs following jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus (JSRV) infection and assessing their potential as disease biomarkers.

Maria completed her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in 2013, followed by an MSc in Microbiology and Infection from the University of Birmingham and a year working in the Biotechnology industry.
