Finn Grey is a senior group leader at the Roslin Institute with over fifteen years of experience in Virology. His research focuses on the use of systematic high throughput approaches to identify and characterise novel host-pathogen interactions. He has made substantial contributions to understanding the role of microRNAs in human cytomegalovirus infection and the identification of key host factors in human cytomegalovirus replication. More recently he has taken a leading role in development of cutting-edge tools for high throughput approaches in livestock species, including the generation of genome wide CRISPR/Cas9 libraries and arrayed interferon stimulated gene expression libraries for pig and chicken. He is currently leading a consortium of collaborations with the aim using these tools to generate ‘hit lists’ for the generation of genetically modified livestock that are resistant to the most important animal diseases.
