Structural & functional genomics
Developing high quality, richly annotated genome sequences for farmed and companion animal species.
In collaboration with researchers from around the world we are developing high quality, richly annotated genome sequences for pigs, chicken, sheep and water buffalo, among others. Together with the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health we are characterising the genomes of domesticated and wild animal species in Africa including sheep, goats, chicken, Cape buffalo, common warthog and bush pig.
We are contributing to the international Functional Annotationof Animal Genomes (FAANG) initiative, characterising transcriptomes and chromatin states.
We are also exploring metagenomes, including rumen and other intestinal microbiomes.
