Fiona Sargison

PhD Student

Fiona started her PhD with Professor Ross Fitzgerald in September 2018 entitled “The molecular pathogenesis of the multi-host bacterium Staphylococcus aureus”.

She completed her undergraduate study at the University of Edinburgh School of Biological sciences with Biochemistry honours. For her honours project, she studied in the Roslin Institute Archibald lab looking at the regulation of autophagy in epithelial cells infected with the intracellular bacteria Lawsonia intracellularis. During her university career she undertook various summer projects at the Roslin Institute and Moredun Research Institute predominantly studying nematode parasite diversity in both sheep and horses.

Fiona completed her PhD in 2022 and is now working as a postdoctoral researcher at Stephan Uphoff's lab at the University of Oxford.
