I graduated with a BSc with Honours in 2017 from the University of Edinburgh, majoring in Zoology. My undergraduate project focused on the effects of nutrition in coinfection dynamics in wild wood mice. I then went on to the Animal Biosciences MSc at the same university, completing a research project at the Roslin Institute. This project was focused on using molecular techniques to identify drug resistance genes in a sheep parasite, Teladorsagia circumcincta. Wishing to continue research in livestock health, I began a PhD at the Roslin this fall 2019 to investigate microRNA biomarkers of health and productivity traits in dairy calves, such as milk production, risk of infection, and longevity. My project will investigate these miRNAs and their function as potential selection markers.
