The LARIF has received over £11 million of funding from the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL), and is pleased to be a member of CIEL through the University of Edinburgh.

CIEL is one of four Agri-Tech Centres focused on bridging the gap between academia and industry across different areas of agriculture. It works to identify key challenges to the UK’s farmed animal industries and provides world-leading, applied solutions through a research base of 12 leading UK academic institutions, including the University of Edinburgh.

As well as providing funding for new research facilities, such as the LARIF, CIEL acts as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the livestock sector, helping to simplify the research and development process by drawing together expertise, trial facilities and contracts across multiple institutions. CIEL work with UK businesses, scientists, engineers, farmers and levy bodies to turn ideas into new products, benefitting the livestock industry and generating economic growth.
