Summer reflections

We at the Roslin Institute would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended our outreach stand this summer, we had a blast and hope you did too!

The Roslin Institute stand at the 2019 Haddington Show

This summer researchers from the Roslin Institute attended agricultural events throughout Scotland and the north of England. We were celebrating 100 years of animal genetics research in Edinburgh.

Our outreach programme introduced audiences to the key concepts of animal genetics using interactive activities suitable for all ages, alongside a showcase of research projects.

We also took feedback from visitors, from children to agriculture professionals, to find out what the livestock industry needs from research and public perceptions about  our current research in animal genetics.

Shows and events we attended:

Northumberland County Show

Haddington Show

Stewartry Agricultural Show

Mid-Argyll Show

Peeblesshire Agricultural Society Show

Lairg Crofters Show

Dalmally Agricultural Society Show

Eskdale Show

Museum of Rural Life

Loanhead Gala Day

A very enjoyable and informative display. My 11 year old insisted on returning to the stand to reinforce his learning. I am particularly keen to follow your work via your internet access – health and welfare of animals is KEY
