A week-long, business-focused work experience programme.

The pupils were given the chance to visit a building under construction.

The University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus (which comprises the Dick Vet School and The Roslin Institute) offered an opportunity for local Midlothian high school pupils to learn about the wide variety of business roles available within an organisation.

This week-long placement provided pupils with practical examples of what it is like to work within various business functions of an organisation.

We selected S3 or S4 pupils (with no exams during this period) who are:

  • Enthusiastic
  • Engaged
  • Motivated
  • Keen to Learn

The week was also an opportunity for the pupils to learn more about the various routes to employment within a business function and they will hear about real life examples from some of our staff e.g. apprenticeships, on the job qualifications, university, college etc.

The pupils were taken on tours of the business (buildings, facilities and farms) and participated in sessions with all relevan

t operational managers e.g. Finance, Health and Safety, HR, Facilities, Marketing and Communications and IT.  The week ended with a career information session.
