Chromatin Biology and Epigenetics

1st Chromatin, Epigenetics, & Transcriptional Regulation Meeting

January 2015

1st Chromatin, Epigenetics, & Transcriptional Regulation Meeting poster

Doug Vernimmen (Roslin) and Sari Pennings (QMRI) are organising the 1st Chromatin, Epigenetics, and Transcriptional Regulation Meeting, University of Edinburgh

Wednesday 14th January 2015, HRB Lecture Theatre, George Square

The speakers will be:

  • Philipp Voigt (WTCCB): "Roles of H3K27me3 at bivalent domains"
  • Abdenour Soufi (SCRM): "Mechanistic insights into the initiation of cell fate conversion"
  • Michael Moffat (IGMM): "Non-catalytic functions of polycomb repressive complexes"
  • Anna Mantsoki (Roslin): "Comprehensive analysis of bivalent domains in mammalian embryonic stem cells"

The idea is to bridge the 4 campus together (Roslin, IGMM, SCRM/QMRI and KB) and to meet other people within the UoE working on this topic.

With this connection, Edinburgh may becoming the most powerful University in the UK for this topic. So lets do what we can to make it stronger!

This meeting will take place 3 times a year (October, January and May) and will be a good opportunity for students and postdocs to present their work in front of a specialised audience.

Moreover, it would give the opportunity to get feedback at the start/end of their project and also good practice for conference, viva exams, grant/fellowship application, etc...

We also hope that these meetings will help to foster programme grants, PhD programmes between labs and institutes in Edinburgh.
