The Roslin Institute receives strategic funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
The Roslin Institute is one of eight Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) institutes. The BBSRC is one of seven Research Councils that work together as Research Councils UK and is funded by the Government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
In 2015-16, the BBSRC invested £473M in world-class bioscience, people and research infrastructure. BBSRC has awarded £29.3M strategic funding to support research and facilities at The Roslin Institute between 2017 and 2022 (see news story) and separate competitive funding from BBSRC accounts for around a quarter of institute income.
