Health and Safety Committee

A forum for consulting about issues or actions that substantially affect the health and safety of employees, students and visitors.

The Health and Safety Committee provides both a formal and informal forum for consulting staff and their representatives about issues or actions that substantially affect the health and safety of employees, students and visitors to the Institute.

Frequency of Meetings

The committee meets four times per year and all staff will be notified one week in advance of meetings taking place.

Remit

The Health and Safety Committee provides both a formal and informal forum for consulting staff and their representatives about issues or actions that substantially affect the health and safety of employees, students and visitors to the Institute.

Duties

  • Help establish and maintain standards of health and safety in keeping with legal requirements and Institute (and University of Edinburgh) policy.
  • Promote co-operation amongst all staff in instigating, developing and monitoring measures to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all employees.

Minutes

The minutes of the meeting will be posted on the the Intranet and on notice boards.
