Wan Faizatul Azirah Ismayatim (PhD student)

Thesis title: Exploring ESL Lecturers' Synchronous and Asynchronous Corrective Feedback Strategies on Students' Learning of Academic Writing Via Computer-Mediated Environment

Background

Academic interests, purpose, objectives and motivation in undertaking this postgraduate study

My academic interest has always been about how to modernise the teaching and learning processes so that they are relevant to the current situation and current digital natives.

In November 2015, I started my career as a lecturer, and I teach English courses to students from various faculties. I found that some students refused to speak in class and they are afraid of making mistakes. I then started using technology more frequently to increase their participation and motivation and it was proven to be effective, especially for students with lower English language proficiency levels.

My motivation in pursuing my PhD is to contribute new knowledge in the area of teaching writing in a second language classroom context through the use of technology.
