Project activity

Internationalisation, Higher Education and the growing demand for English: an investigation into the global English Medium of Instruction (EMI) movement and the use of academic English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in non-Anglophone Higher Education Institutes (HEI)

This project explores various aspects of the spread of EMI in East Asian higher education. The research project team includes Heath Rose ( University of Oxford), Fan Fang (Shantou University, China), Serina Xie (Shantou University, China), Nerys Rees (Rikkyo University, Japan), Jarek Kriukow (University of Edinburgh), and Takuya Numajiri (University of Edinburgh) .

 

Global Englishes Language Teaching (GELT) and teacher education

This project investigates pre- and inservice practitioners’ attitudes to curriculum innovation in light of the growing research in the field of Global Englishes.
