Taddese is a public health and nutrition specialist, and holds a PhD in Food Science and Nutrition from Addis Ababa University. He has completedan IMMANA Fellowship from Tufts University and  apost-doctoral research scientist position from the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) based in Nairobi Kenya. He has served as a senior research advisor at the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and Assistant Professor of Public Health-Nutrition at Dilla University, in Ethiopia, and is a member of the Ethiopian Young Academy of Sciences (EtYAS) and other professional associations. He has won the "Tore Godal" research award and ADDRF Fellowship and other research grants. Present and future research include maternal and child health; maternal and child nutrition; agriculture, health - nutrition nexus; and planetary health.
