Biography

Background

Špela joined the Dick Vet team in 2017 after working in the human pharmacy sector in Slovenia, The Netherlands and Scotland. When choosing her studies, she had a hard time deciding between veterinary medicine and pharmacy and therefore enjoys this position which combines both of her great interests. As a clinically oriented pharmacist, she particularly enjoys finding solutions to issues with medicine modification and supporting vets and nurses with advice on medicines and adminstration. Špela is an associate fellow in higher education and teaches both clinical staff as well as veterinary students on veterinary pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship and performs clinical audits on medication related problems and antimicrobial use in companion animals.

She complements this role with a NHS hospital pharmacist one where she specializes in pharmaceutical care of the elderly.

Špela loves animals and has extensive volunteer experiences in animal welfare. In her free time, she loves spending time in nature with her Jack Russell Terrier Freddie and playing the piano.
