Mr Scott Maxwell

Histology Laboratory Manager

Background

I am the Histology Laboratory Manager here at the Vet School where I started in February this year -2019. Previous to starting in this post, I spent almost 30 years in the framework of the NHS, latterly as Pathology Laboratory manager at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. I have been a state registered Biomedical Scientist since 1991 and I have a Master’s Degree which I obtained in 2008. I am an assessor for Neqas and I have recently taken on the role as Scheme Coordinator for Muscle.

Away from work, I love to travel- hence the picture taken from the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC. I have been fortunate to have been able to travel quite widely, and as such I travelled to Malawi in January this year to try and improve a pathology lab in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blantyre.

I am married and have 2 grown up children, one of whom has kindly made me a youngish grandparent (Papa), so a lot of my energy is spent there. When I do have the time, I go to watch my football team every fortnight. For my sins, I am a Hibs season ticket holder along with my son (it is the only way I would get to see him otherwise, he is 19 after all).
