PhD supervisors:
Background
I am interested to explore the every-day decision-making of both family and caregiver and people with dementia.
This can enhance the positive outcomes including quality of life. To date, much of understanding of previously published studiesĀ in dementia comes from developed countries. It is important to grow a comprehensive understanding of the family caregivers in the dementia in Thai context. More importantly, in Thailand, the national dementia strategies have not been developed yet. My proposal is focused on the decision-making of people with dementia and family caregiver in Thailand. This research intends to explore the experience of family caregivers and older people living with dementia, by understanding the outcomes from the different perspectives, and how do they make everyday decisions and use of other supports services regarding treatment and care. I plan to use qualitative method in this study and to collect data in Thailand. Therefore, I believe that the findings of my research will have the potential contribution to nursing practice, nursing research, and nursing education as well as to maximize potential positive developing and implementing dementia policies and plans, health system strengthening, capacity building, supporting caregivers and research in the Thai contexts.
