Background
I graduated BSc (Hons) in Animal Production Science from Edinburgh University in 1980. After graduating I worked as a Dairy Husbandry Advisory Officer with the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service. In 1982 I moved back to Edinburgh as Farm Manager at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Medicine Easter Bush Farm where I was responsible for the day to day running of the farm along with teaching animal husbandry and assisting with research projects. In 1994 I became lecturer in Farm Animal Husbandry and co-ordinator of Animal Husbandry Extra-mural Studies.
