Background
Mohamed is a member of the Structural Engineering Group at Asteria, a pioneering student-led initiative based at the University of Edinburgh, focused on advancing space exploration through the development of small satellites. Mohamed is involved in the design and development of structural systems for Asteria’s first student-built satellite, a groundbreaking project aimed at creating cost-effective, high-performance small satellites for a variety of space missions. His work ensures that these satellites can withstand the extreme conditions of space, contributing to Asteria’s mission of making space technology more accessible and reliable.
During a workshop at King’s College London, Mohamed worked on developing a drone capable of wirelessly measuring air quality, humidity, wind speed, and other environmental factors across London. This project enhanced his expertise in environmental monitoring and real-time data collection, skills that he now applies to satellite-based Earth observation technologies.
Alongside his academic work, Mohamed is the founder and president of the Egyptian Society at The University of Edinburgh, where he promotes cultural exchange and supports the Egyptian student community.
