M.Sc. Science Communication and Public Engagement from the University of Edinburgh

B.A. Science, Technology, and Society (Mathematics Minor) from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie NY, USA

 

Responsibilities & affiliations

I support and facilitate public engagement, communications, and impact activities at the Centre for Inflammation Research, including, but not limited to:

  • PE consultation: offering expertise in developing, managing, and evaluating public engagement projects; assisting with public engagement grant applications
  • Science festivals: developing research-based activities and organising centre involvement in science festivals like the Edinburgh International Science Festival and the Midlothian Science Festival
  • Online engagement: engaging audiences with research on social media and  the centre's website, managing public content on the centre's website
  • Communications: producing internal newsletters, writing news articles for the centre's website, copyediting external research publications for non-expert audiences, liaising with the University Press Office
  • Training: procuring and providing training opportunities focusing on impact, evaluation, and general good practice in public engagement

I also previously worked at National Museums Scotland, supporting the Science & Technology curatorial department.
