Director of Professional Services
Member of School management team with responsibility for overall organisation, planning and management of support services (50+ staff), including financial and human resource related practice within the School. Overall responsibility for all professional services across the School, including teaching support (UG/PGT), postgraduate research, student support, research management, knowledge exchange and impact, estates, marketing, student recruitment, learning technology, IT and systems, and other operational areas in order to deliver School/College/University strategic objectives.
Main responsibilities include:
Maintain management continuity within the School and provide strategic, policy and professional advice, management information and support to the Head of School and other School managers. Lead in the construction, implementation and monitoring of School strategic plans (including staffing and estates plans), and contribute to longer-term strategic and operational planning for the School.
Develop and regularly update a financial strategy to help the School achieve its academic objectives. Responsibility for management School budgets on behalf of the Head of School. Monitor and ensure appropriate and efficient expenditure from School’s budget and restricted accounts.
Significant contribution to and lead on College/University wide projects.
Responsible for the overall management and leadership of support staff in the School, determining staffing levels, ensuring that support staff are appropriately organised and managed in accordance with University policy, School strategy and goals, and good employment practice. Manage direct reports including responsibility for their recruitment, annual review, performance management and development, and indirectly ensure this approach is applied across direct reports teams across the School.
