Lorraine Jackson has been working at the University of Edinburgh for over 20 years.  She previously worked in Educational Studies at Moray House before moving  to the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) and out to the Edinburgh BioQuarter site in 2003.  The Chancellor's Building had opened the previous year and Lorraine supported the Site Manager and implemented systems within the building for the new occupants.  When QMRI opened in 2006, the site team expanded, and Lorraine continued to provide support and management until 2010.

Edinburgh BioQuarter's Commercialisation Programme was set up in 2010 to increase the footprint of commercial activity within CMVM.  Lorraine joined this new team of industrialists as the administrator which involved managing translational projects and awards, reporting metrics to key stakeholders, financial management, organising events and travel, providing administrative support to the team and providing PA support to the Director.  In 2015 Edinburgh BioQuarter became Sunergos Innovations (a subsidiary company of UoE).

In 2018 Lorraine joined the CMVM Research Office.  She supports the MRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA, previously Confidence in Concept), liaises closely with Edinburgh Innovations (the University's commercialisation service) to ensure synergy between all the translational funds, manages the Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF), manages the Research Adaptation Fund (2021), supports the College's Research Excellence Framework (REF), supports the Translation and Commercialisation Board (TCB), supports early careers researchers in liaison with the Research Staff Committee and provides support to the ESAT programme.
