Background

Lorraine Jackson has been working at the University of Edinburgh for over 20 years.  She previously worked in Educational Studies at Moray House before moving  to the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) in 2003 where she supported the site manager for the University buildings on the BioQuarter site.  Chancellor's Building opened in 2002 and the Queen's Medical Research Institute was created in 2006.

In 2010 Lorraine joined BioQuarter's Commercialisation Programme which aimed to increase the footprint of commercial activity within CMVM.  Lorraine joined this new team of industrialists as the team administrator which involved managing translational projects and awards, reporting metrics to key stakeholders, financial management, organising events and travel, providing administrative support to the team and providing PA support to the Director.  In 2015 Edinburgh BioQuarter became Sunergos Innovations (a subsidiary company of UoE).

In 2018 Lorraine joined the CMVM Research Office as Research Support Officer, she provides strategic support to College activities including fund management, creating and supporting initiatives, supporting early career researchers and the Edinburgh Scientific Academic Track cohort and assisting with the Research Excellence Framework (REF) tasks.

In her spare time Lorraine enjoys walking her dog, volunteering with 'Cycling Without Age', community litter picks, running (occasionally), reading and enjoying life!
