Lauren White

Research Fellow (Spectrum)

Background

Lauren is a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh on the SPECTRUM Consortium, a multi-university, multi-agency research consortium focused on the commercial determinants of health and health inequalities. 

Prior to starting at Edinburgh, Lauren completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow examining the policy and public debate surrounding the regulation of unhealthy online food advertising to children.  During her time there, she also spent time as a social researcher at the Scottish Government as well as completing a research trip to the University of Sydney, Australia.  After the submission of her PhD, she undertook a short-term research fellowship examining sport sponsorship by food and beverage corporations in the UK. 

Lauren has a broad interest in the commercial determinants of health, with particular interests in examining the marketing of unhealthy commodities, framing practices of multiple stakeholders within policy debates as well as public health ethics.
