PhD Linguistics & English Language

For my PhD thesis, I'm working on a descriptive grammar of Ambel, an endangered Austronesian language spoken in east Indonesia. I spend a lot of time working with native speakers of Ambel on the beautiful island of Waigeo in the Raja Ampat archipelago. The grammar will be based on an audio-visual corpus of Ambel, which I've been creating with the help of native speakers. This corpus will also help to document Ambel language and culture for future generations.
