Thesis title: The Case of Disability Theatre in Contemporary Scotland

Qualifications

Judith graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2016 with an MSc Theatre and Performance Studies and an MA (Hons) in English Literature in 2014.

Current research interests

Judith's research focuses on disability theatre in Scotland. Her research includes freakery in Victorian Scotland, the medical model of disability in the twentieth century and the more recent social model of disability. These models will be used to interrogate the theatrically staged disabled body and question the perceptions of human embodiment.

Knowledge exchange

For case studies Judith will be collaborating with Birds of Paradise Theatre Company. Which is Scotland's only professional disability-led theatre company. She will also be supporting them in archiving past production material.
