Prof Jozsef Sakovics
Personal Chair in Economic Theory

Background
József studied engineering in his native Hungary before he went to Stanford for an MSc in operations research and a PhD in decision science.
He followed up with a post-doc in CentER (Netherlands) before settling in Barcelona at the Institute for Economic Analysis.
In 2000, he uprooted his Spanish family and joined the University of Edinburgh, where he served as Head of Economics in 2008-2009 and Head of School in 2018-2019. He is currently on leave, as a Distinguished Senior Researcher Fellowship in Spain.
