Jacky MacBeath

Head of Museums, Head of the Centre for Research Collections

Background

Jacky is an experienced museum professional with over 25 years’ experience in the heritage and cultural sector. As Head of Museums she provides overall strategic leadership and management to the University’s rich and diverse museum collections and is a member of the management team leading on Library and University Collections development. She has a particular interest in collections convergence; in her role as Head of the Centre for Research Collections she leads on cross-collections student, academic and public engagement projects. She recently led the award-winning project to redevelop St Cecilia’s Hall – Scotland’s oldest concert hall and home to the University’s world class collection of musical instruments. She is a former trustee on the Board of Museums Galleries Scotland, the national development body for the sector in Scotland. Currently she is chair of University Museums in Scotland, a collaborative organisation comprising all the Accredited university museums in Scotland.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Museums & Galleries Studies, University of St Andrews (UK)
  • MA in Egyptology, University of Cambridge (UK)
