Medical Education Tutor

Background

I Joined the University of Edinburgh in 2015 as a tutor on the Clinical Educator Programme, my main role is to provide support for participants on the programme in developing their clinical teaching skills. This involves teaching, feedback and assessment in medical education. Other university roles involve faciliatting sessions for the Edinburgh Summer School in Clinical Education, mentoring on the Edinburgh Teaching Award and working with MBChB students and clinical educators on the Year 4 Team module.

My nursing background was based mainly in the Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. During a secondment to the Clinical Skills Team at the University of Edinburgh in 2011, I developed skills and an enthusiasm for medical education and resuscitation (ALS) training. A secondment to the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors developed my interest and expertise in simulation based training.
