After completing my MSc at the University of Dundee, I was awarded an ESRC grant to complete my PhD at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD research focused on how listeners use predictions of what someone is likely to say to coordinate their utterances during conversational turn-taking. After completing my PhD in 2018, I began work on a Leverhulme Trust funded project with Professor Martin Pickering. This project tests the mechanisms underlying prediction, and specifically uses gender stereotyping to determine the circumstances under which listeners predict from their own and their partner's perspective.
