Dr Mark Barnett

Core Scientist (Research Fellow)

Mark obtained a PhD from the University of Manchester studying the regulation of Hox genes.

Postdoctoral work has included neural induction and anteroposterior patterning in Xenopus, showing that heparan sulphate is required for GDNF to activate it’s receptor (c-ret) and studying the role of SynGAP in the formation of somatosensory barrels.

Current interests at the Roslin Institute are transcriptomics studies of macrophage activation and the cell cycle.
