Background

I am a parasitologist and molecular biologist interested in the effects of co-infections on both the host and pathogen. I use African trypanosomes as a model to study these effects, and specialise in genetic engineering, fluorescence microscopy, and in vivo bioluminescent imaging. I am also interested in studying diseases in natural settings, and have extensive field work experience.

Qualifications

PhD Evolutionary Biology, Immunology and Infection Research (University of Edinburgh, 2022)

Current research interests

The impact of trypanosome co-infections on transmission and virulence.

Past research interests

The genotypic diversity of anthrax outbreaks in the Kruger National Park

Past project grants

Wellcome Trust Hosts, Pathogens and Global Health (Studentship)
