A scientific background in medical life sciences specialised in immunology and disease with experience carrying out independent academic research in the fields of dermatology, inflammation and cancer and soliciting research funding. Eighteen years of experience in the field of health sciences within industry as a scientist and R&D project manager of international clinical trials and new product development projects. Used to working within a multi-stakeholder matrix organisation and leading multi-functional teams locally and internationally.

Member of the Association for Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA)
Engaging with major UK research funders covering Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, and working in partnership with the College Deans of Research and Schools/Institutes/Centres to develop strategies to enhance the UK funding portfolio of Edinburgh University.
Responsible for managing the UK Research Funding Team across Edinburgh University, ensuring that all aspects of their operational, research development and strategic activities deliver the highest quality of customer support to academics, helping them with developing their ideas , identifying funders, and crafting their applications to deliver high quality research proposals across a full range of UK research funders.
