David J. Haines

David Haines is Head of Philanthropy, University Programmes at the University of Edinburgh. He leads on fundraising strategy for institutional projects, with a particular focus on Widening Participation.
Prior to joining Edinburgh, David was a Senior Manager and Principal Gifts fundraiser in the Development office of Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where he project-managed Monash's largest-ever public-facing fundraising Campaign, "Change it. For good.", already well ahead of schedule to meet its targets of raising $500m from 50,000 donors.
David started his fundraising career at Venture Trust, a Scottish charity based in Edinburgh and Applecross working with young offenders, later moving into the Higher Education sector in the Development team at the University of Stirling. He holds an MA (Hons) in English from the University of St Andrews.
