Charlene Kay

Background

Charlene Kay has been working in cancer research for more than 10 years. She is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on lymph node metastases in breast cancer whilst also working part time as a Research Assistant in the Translational Oncology Research Group. Charlene was recently voted Scientist of the Week by students in the I’m A Scientist – Cancer Zone public engagement event.  

Current research interests

I am currently research lymph node positive breast cancer. Lymph node metastases can at times be quite different to the primary lesion, leading to therapy resistance and further metastatic spread.
