Caroline Gordon

Literacy Teaching Fellow

Background

I have worked in Primary Education for the past 14 years teaching across nursery to P7.  In addition to classroom practice, I have worked at local authority level to lead implementation of the Scottish Government's 1+2 model of language learning and teaching.  I have developed a number of progressive professional learning opportunities, transition models and creative projects linking language learning with sport and digital literacy.

I have been involved in the design and delivery of Erasmus funded English immersion courses for teachers both in Edinburgh and in Spain.  Courses have focused on English language and methodology including CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) for French primary teachers.

More recently, I worked across schools in Edinburgh to support learners with English as an Additional Language.  This reinforced my belief in the importance of developing literacy skills across the curriculum, across languages and with an approach that celebrates the languages and cultures of all learners.
